Domodedovo adds disabled facilities

Moscow's  Domodedovo Airport has increased its ‘disadvantaged travellers’ transport by eight new minibuses and two new ambulift vehicles.

Qualifying passengers now are assisted by officers of the special airport service to use elevators and an ambulift to join their aircraft. The new vehicle can hold up to three wheelchairs with three support staff plus one stretcher.

Within two months the ambulift fleet will be increased by a further two vehicles.

Already this year, new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans for VIP travellers have been commissioned, each of which can accommodate up to five wheelchairs.

Two of the vans are equipped with an electrically-driven loading platform.

For disabled passengers and persons accompanying them arriving at the airport in their own vehicles, about 600 dedicated parking places have been allocated.
