GREEN LIGHT AS JADE CARGO CONFIRMS INITIAL SCHEDULES

The Chinese cargo carrier Jade Cargo International will begin operations at the beginning of August, immediately after delivery of its first freighter, a B747-400ERF.

Initially Jade Cargo International will serve Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) and Seoul Incheon (ICN) each three times a week from its cargo hub in Shenzhen (SZX), Southern China.

Jade Cargo International’s second B 747-400ERF is due for delivery in November. The airline, which is based in China’s Pearl River Delta, has ordered a total of six aircraft of this type, which will enter service successively until January 2008.

Reto Hunziker has been appointed executive vice president sales and marketing at Jade Cargo International. Hunziker was previously cargo manager at Swiss WorldCargo. Based in Shenzhen, Hunziker will be responsible for global sales. Gu Rubai, a former bank executive for Bank of China abroad, has been appointed executive vice president Finance and Accounting and completes the Jade Cargo International senior management team.

*Jade Cargo International was founded as a joint venture between Shenzhen Airlines (51 per cent), Lufthansa Cargo (25 per cent) and DEG - Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (24 per cent). The airline currently has 120 employees.
