Airlines seek China-USA okay

Japan Airlines and American Airlines have applied to the Japanese Transport Ministry for antitrust immunity to operate 'as a single carrier' on flights between North America and Asia.

ANA, United Airlines and Continental Airlines have filed a similar application.

In the USA, mirror applications from JAL/AA and ANA/UA/CA are pending with the US Department of Transportation.
