Air Canada to hold freighter fleet at eight

Canada's Air Canada is holding its 767 freighter fleet at eight and has dropped plans to convert a further two Boeing 767s.

Air Canada only took delivery of its eighth 767 freighter in Q1. Six of the planes were conversions and two were new.

The downsizing reflects pressure on its cargo revenues; it has just announced a nine per cent year-on-year decline in first-quarter cargo revenues to C$215 million, due partly to a 28.7 per cent decline in its Atlantic cargo revenues to C$84 million.

Its full-year 2023 cargo revenues declined 27 per cent year on year due to reduced demand and fewer temporary passenger freighters (aka preighters).
