The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued new rules to strengthen air cargo security. The security requirements mark the first substantial changes to air cargo regulations since 1999. The Air Cargo Final Rule makes permanent some practices already in place and adds others. The new security measures include:
British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) has reported flown revenues of £498 million for the full financial year ending 31 March 2006, an increase of 3.3 per cent against the same period last year. When the exchange rate effect is removed flown revenues stand at £486 million, a slight increase of 0.8 per cent over the financial year.
Famous Pacific Shipping (FPS)has named Kettivit Sittisoontornwong as the vice-chairman of its Executive Committee. Sittisoontornwong is the president of FPS Logistics (Thailand) one of the founder members of the FPS network.
Lufthansa Cargo is streamlining the organisation of its handling and sales activities outside Germany. In future, the respective area managers will be responsible for both these functions. In Germany, however, handling and sales will remain separate organisational units.
Soaring global oil prices have hit Australian exporters where it hurts with a record low number (38 per cent) expecting increased export orders in the next three months; however a growing diversity of export destinations and a more positive 12 month forecast suggest the tough times will be short-lived, the 2006 DHL Export Barometer has found.

Despite a huge fire in cargo facilities at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport Thursday regular traffic has begun operating again. The fire injured three people and totally destroyed all cargo terminals including warehouse facilities.
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) posted a pre-tax loss of RM309.118 million in its first quarter ended March 31, 2006, (Q1 2006), as against a pre-tax profit of RM112.017 million in the same quarter of 2005 (Q1 2005).
